RECORDED:56 °FISHING: Good
Fishing a lighter sink tip with medium to large flies is still working on summer steelhead on the Skykomish River. Covering a much water as possible on long float trips while swinging in slower seams, corners and tailouts. Hatchery steelhead are still moveing up river at a rapid pace and still a few winter natives around, so please fight these fish hard and get em back on there way!!
RECORDED:68 °FISHING: Great
The skykomish remains high but the fishing has been great!! I've hit three steelhead in the last 3 days. Fishing light tips swung in close to shore has been working good, as usual the pattern hasen't mattered, its been presentation. And having some fish around, looks to be a good start. On a side note theres a lot of winter native steelhead around so please fight these fish fast and get them back ASAP so they can continue their destiny!
RECORDED:59 °FISHING: Good
The Skykomish river is finaly open and hatchery Steelhead are moving up!! The river should drop into great shape next week, fishing a type 3 sink tip with a larger patern does the the trick in higher water. Fish seams that are closer to shore and swing in tight, fish are siting in closer than you think. Any fly will work as long as theres fish around, good luck.
RECORDED:52 °FISHING: Great
Ben and I just got back from Forks, and lets just say the fishing was good! We caught fish every day, but we had to work for them. Guys fishing single egg patterns under thingamabobbers did great, but we wanted to swing the two handers, and had success!! The Hoh is in great shape but getting low, some rain will help bring in the last of the fish before it closess. The Sol Duc is getting low but was good after a rainy spell, lots of Steelhead in the coastal rivers so get out there and catch some fish.
FISHING: Good
The local lakes have been stocked and have been fishing good. Fishing the Olive Willie on a floater or an int with a slow strip will work!! The Yakima river has been fishing great with some Skwalla action, dries and nymphs!!
RECORDED:50 °FISHING: Good
Some late hatchery and early native Steelhead are showing up with every rise in water. Fishing a type 4 to 8 sink tip on the swing with large profile flies has been productive. Fish are spread out the system so cover as much water as you can, watch the gauge and fish it when its on the drop. Bull Trout are around and agressive!! so get out and fish.
RECORDED:57 °FISHING: Great
Rain next week will bring in more Coho, the #'s so far have been good. Fishing a red flash fly or purple haze on a sink tip with fast short stips has been productive in low light during the past weeks of low clear water. Higher dirty water string leeches, egg sucking leeches, ect will work as well. The pinks are still coming in and bighting well, but alot are spawning so stay out of the redds!! Fish the tansitional water below riffles to find some holding agressive fish, use a swing with a twitch and hold on.
RECORDED:62 °FISHING: Great
The last three days of rian had the Sky rising fast and dirty. I had John Sr and John Jr from Louisiana out on the 7th. Even with rising dirty water we still maneged to hook their first salmon on the fly. Bigger pink, pink&white flies on sink tips where the ticket on Monday. The cutty fishing was a complete bust. The river will improve as week moves on and fishing will only get better. The Pinks where flooding in with the high water and some Coho as well. This is a great time to fish, youy never know what you will hook into on any cast, so go get youre waders on and go fish!!
RECORDED:80 °FISHING: Great
Had a great day with Mark and his brother Steve on the Skykomish yesterday. While the fishing was a little slow Mark landed several nice Cutthroat in the 15 & 16 in range. His brother from Austin Texas however came away with the big fish of the day. A solid 18 inches of fresh n bright searun Cutthroat. The cutties have all been bright and agresive, chassing everything out from under woody debrie or rocky structure. Saw tons of pinks, caught some and missed some more. Thanks for comming out with me, agian had a great time!!
RECORDED:80 °FISHING: Great
Ron and I have been targeting the Searun Cutthroat the past two mondays. Last week we had a few really nice fish on butt lost all the big ones, not today! Our first spot I caught a nice 12-13in cutty on Kinney's Reversed spider(man I love that fly!!). Ron was up next and on his third cast was into a hot little 10incher that jumped 8 times until he was off. So I grab my Rainshadow 5wt switch with a Silver Browne, a Rodrick Haig-browne patern. On my second cast to the sumerged log wheve been fishing, a large cutty came up and slamed the Silver Browne. My first on that pattern, thanks Mark for having me tie some up for you. They work great!! So Ron is up agian and quickly into a nice fish but again it was of. Ron had a couple more grabes, butt couldnt conect,so we moved on. Ron finally landed a nother small one and I landed a nice 14in on a Silver Lady (anther Bowne pattern) and another first for me. We mised a couple outher fish and with the sun getting high we called it a day. We also saw a lot of Pink Salmon moving up the river, should be a great season!!
