Hot tip of the day... Go Fish!!  The Skykomish River is a bit high, but it has good color and it's on the drop.  That's as good as it gets in early June!  Clarity is about 2-1/2 to 3'.  There have been reports of several Steelhead caught on the fly over the past few days.

Skykomish River - June 6th, 2007
FISHING: Fair
The Skykomish is on the drop and the river should be in good fishing shape for the first time since the river opened.  Its dropping below 7,000 cfs & below 8' so some walk in opportunities will open now.  This may be a short opportunity - the weekend cascades report is for warming conditions that will bring snowmelt this weekend.

For Steelhead, look at the upper river.  Kings - The Wallace to Lewis Street.

FISHING: Good
Fished the Sultan area of the Skykomish this afternoon - good visibility 2-3" - had a good hookup, but LDR'd it.  Right now the  river is dropping and clearing - should be around 6' tomororow.  It's prime Skykomish time - clear and cold weather.

Now's the time to get out on the river - the Sky is on the drop. There are hatchery fish to be had.   They tend to shoot thru the system fast, so be sure to cover water.  The Sultan River is still kicking out mud, the better visibility is above Sultan.

Tight Lines!

Skykomish River - December 5th, 2006
FISHING: Fair
Upper Skykomish:  December 5.

Ron and Brian drifted the Upper Sky from High Bridge to Sultan on Monday. The river has dramatically changed in the upper stretch – so early trips will now include some scouting for new spots.

Visibility:  The Clay bank is coloring the river, maybe 4’ of visibility below the clay banks.   The Sultan River is still kicking out mud – the better visibility is above the Sultan.

Fishing Conditions:   These Winter Hatchery Steelhead move through the system quickly – be sure to cover water. Overall, the River is getting back in shape, the next high water should bring new fish.   Look for new holding water with depth and structure as you scout out your winter fishing holes.

  Tight Lines!

Skykomish River - October 31st, 2006
FISHING: Fair
The Skykomish remains low and clear.  Fishing has been slow with the low water conditions.  Steelhead are higher in the system - salmon are running throughout.  Rain over the weekend should bring in new Chum - the freshest fish will be lower in the Skykomish.
